Yes, I recommend to set it to false for now. You are not the first
running into issues with this feature, but what you describe seems
really bad.
Very deep analysis of this probably isn't worth the effort. The code
for this in releases so far was a pretty simple old prototype without
careful design, etc. We're close to finishing a much better full
rewrite for the /cache/prefetch functionality.
