Dear Josef,
what do you exactly have on your mind? It's quite possible to run any two daemons at
the same machine, but Knot DNS and Knot Resolver has the split design (similar to f.e. NSD
and Unbound) as we do not think it's a good idea to combine the functionality of
authoritative and recursive DNS on the same interface. Especially with DNSSEC it leads to
complicated behaviour (do your return adflag or aaflag, etc.).
So the normal setup would be to have two interfaces:
- one for Knot Resolver
- one for Knot DNS
We would have to know more about your exact needs to help you further.
