I am not sure if i understand what you mean but if its the duration of the domain since registration to expiry there is a table called price_list which stores the prices for different operations now there is operation 2 which is for renewal I believe the default is 12 month period but you can reduce it the way you want.Frankly I have never tried that but I suppose it should work. Note that if you create a domain and you say it should be for period less than the minimum time listed in the price_list table it will give you an error.
