Folks:
FRED runs perfectly on Ubuntu 10.4. The only difference with running on
9.10 is that you have to recompile fred-server. The libboost libraries
changed their version. What is needed for getting the correct libraries is
simple (as far as I can tell). Simply install this:
apt-get install libboost-all-dev
This in turn, will install the libboost needed libraries. After that, you
should configure and install the fred-server package.

Has anyone tried to implement his/her own whois appart from the fred
whois.Or
tried to customize it.Any clue how to start and which files to start with?

Hello,
I have noticed that if domain has nsset consisting of ns.domain.com and
domain.com,
then there is no GLUE record added for domain.com only for
ns.domain.com, is that expected behaviour or bug?
If its expected whats the reasoning why it was developed like that?

Renew Your .tz Domain before it expires.Use our whois service to find out the expiry date of your domain.
I have setup the unix whois on port 43 (the one that comes with Fred).
Then we have changed the attribute "refer:" of the Domain object at RIPE to "CLIENTADDRESS whois.nic.fo 43".
The reason for this change is to have RIPE redirecting all whois queries to our whois server (whois.nic.fo). I know other countries have done this with succes.
But i cant get this to work.
If i for example enter the domain name "kjatt.fo" in the form at www.ripe.net/whois, i do not get any information about this domain name, only the error below.
It seems like the whois service, that comes with fred, does not accept the RIPE request.
Is anyone able to help me with this ?

Hello,
Where could i find example config file for fred-banking.
Did i understand correctly that fred-banking logic is to download csv
files from bank (authenticated with ssl certs) and then import it via
fred-banking.

Hello,
What is the Best Practice with Reserverd domains and fred, currently my
understanding is that, domains are reserved (prohibited to register),
then reservation is removed
and any registrar is able to register that domain, is there some system
to allow only one registrar register that domain and is there any
billing related features with reserved
domains, or they are treated just like normal domains.

Hi, I've been trying to connect to fred-server from fred-client for a long
time, but I'couldn not do so. I think that is all about certificates,
because this procedures are not deeply explained in documentations. I would
be very pleased if someone can tell me where to find the correct procedures.
The procedure I followed to get certificates and keys, is this one:
1. download CA.pl
2. run ./CA.pl -new ca
3. copy generated demoCA/cacert.pem to /usr/share/fred-mod-eppd/ssl/
4. run ./CA.pl -newreq
5. run CA.pl -sign
6. move generated newcert.pem and newkey.pem to
/usr/share/fred-mod-eppd/ssl/ and remove newreq.pem in CA.pl's directory
7. run again CA.pl -newreq
8. run again CA.pl -sign
9. move generated cert and key to /usr/share/fred-mod-eppd/ssl/
After that, I get client and mod-eppd configured to point these files, and
run the following script to insert registrars into database:
*#!/bin/bash
MD5=$(openssl x509 -in /usr/local/share/fred-client/ssl/newcert.pem
-fingerprint -noout -md5)
HANDLE=$1
PASSWORD=$2
NAME=$3
psql -U fred fred << _EOF_
INSERT INTO registrar (handle,name) VALUES ('${HANDLE}','${NAME}');
INSERT INTO registraracl (registrarid,cert,password) VALUES
(currval('registrar_id_seq'),'${MD5}','${PASSWORD}');
_EOF_
